Alicia Kearns MP met with the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Secretary of State, Steve Barclay MP, to discuss farming priorities locally.
Alicia Kearns, Member of Parliament for Rutland and Melton, said:
One of the most important departments in Government for us in Rutland, Melton, the Vale and Harborough Villages is the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, so it was good to sit down with the Secretary of State to discuss priorities for our local communities including:
- Flooding support, recovery grants and planning for floods.
- The need for a National Land Strategy to protect high-quality agricultural land.
- My campaign for a Gas-Fertiliser Index.
- The need to build solar on rooftops and grade 4 land, not high quality agricultural land.
