Alicia Kearns MP has launched a competition to find Rutland and Stamford’s favourite independent shop.
The awards seek not just to celebrate, but to also help raise the profile of local independent businesses across Rutland, Stamford, South Kesteven and the Harborough villages.
Before the constituency boundary change, last year’s competition ‘Rutland and Melton’s Favourite Independent Shop’ received over 20,000 votes and saw Hilltop Farm Shop named as the overall winner.
There are 13 categories for nominations in this year’s competition:
- Beauty, pampering and wellness
- Butcher
- Café
- Clothing and accessories
- Craft and hobby
- Farm and produce
- Food and drink
- Garden
- Gifts and stationery
- Homeware
- Pharmacy
- Village Shop
- Other
Nominations close on 12th December 2024, before a shortlist of shops is created and voting opens.
Alicia Kearns MP, Member of Parliament for Rutland and Stamford, said:
“We are fortunate to have so many wonderful independent businesses locally, but they need our support, and this competition is my small way of playing my part by celebrating and raising their profile.
“Thousands of you voted last year, so please do get behind our local businesses in the lead up to Christmas and give them the recognition they deserve!”
