Alicia Kearns MP raised concerns over the sewer smell on Swinstead Road in Corby Glen during business questions with the Leader of the House.
Alicia called for a debate in Government time to discuss how to ensure Local Councils hold new housing developers and water companies to account when they fail to deliver new developments in full and in line with their planning proposals. Alicia has also written to the South Kesteven District Council calling on them to meet with Corby Glen Parish Council, as well as Allison Homes, Anglian Water and has secured a meeting with Nottingham Community Housing Association.
Alicia met with the Parish Council and Corby Glen residents during the election to hear their concerns and is determined to help find a solution to end the smell which has been experienced by residents for over a year.
Alicia Kearns, Member of Parliament for Rutland and Stamford, said:
“I am horrified that residents in Corby Glen have been left in this intolerable condition. Having met with the Parish Council and Corby Glen residents I will do all I can to put an end to the stink they have endured for too long.
“Developers must be held to account and I am deeply disappointed by the lack of engagement with residents by the Labour run Rainbow Council at South Kesteven. The Council needs to step up to hold developers and water companies to account, and resolve the sewage issues residents have wrongly suffered with for well over a year.”
