Following the Chancellor's Economic Statement on spending inheritance, Alicia Kearns MP criticised the Chancellor's decision to scrap winter fuel payments.
Alicia Kearns, Member of Parliament for Rutland and Stamford, said:
"Deeply disappointed, but not surprised, to see Labour cut support from Pensioners yesterday in their first economic statement since the election. It’s not a surprise Age UK and Martin Lewis has criticised how this will affect pensions who are not well off.
Spending pressures result in choices, Labour are making theirs, and it is cynical to pretend public finances were a mystery. The OBR and IFS have both stated this, the books were open, and how the sums add up were literally set out for anyone to see."
