As part of the Government’s investment in grassroots sport in our country, Melton Education Trust has been awarded £519,776 for a new floodlit 3G football pitch for the whole community at John Ferneley College in Melton.
The pitch will support a variety of playing formats for four partner clubs, providing 41 teams with a top-level playing pitch.
The funding also included new community access to additional facilities, including grass pitches, a multi-use games area and a sports hall.
The fund is particularly focussed on the development of women and girls’ football – as well as providing better access for disabled people.
Alicia Kearns, MP for Rutland and Melton said:
“I’m just delighted that sport in Melton has been boosted by over half a million pounds – with this facility sure to improve the health and leisure of Melton.
“We know how vital sport is to all of our health - and this new pitch will be a huge boost to sport in our community.”
