The Government has announced their new SEND plan, this will mean:
- Investment in training for thousands of workers to give SEND children greater support
- Additional specialist school places for those with the greatest needs
- New guides for professionals to help them provide tailored support for every child in line with new national standards
- Cutting local bureaucracy by making sure the process for assessing children and young people's needs through Education Health and Care Plans (ECHPs) is digital-first, quicker and simpler
- Government investment for children with SEND and AP increasing to over £10bn by 2023-24
Alicia Kearns, MP for Rutland and Melton said:
"I’ve been lobbying Government Ministers recently over Special Educational Needs funding and the need to reduce waiting times for assessments, so I welcome the Government’s newly published SEND plan. Too many families in our communities have had to come to me and my team for help, and it’s crucial children get the earliest possible diagnosis and resulting support."
