Highways England has reported that safety upgrades work is now underway at 5 points along the A1 from the Tinwell Junction to the Colsterworth Interchange.
Alicia Kearns, MP for Rutland and Melton said:
"Whilst over the next few decades we will need many more improvements, I'm delighted to see these first improvements - and to have driven past some of them only this evening.
"As Chair of the A1 MPs working group I met with Highways England earlier this week to discuss this work and the long-term improvements needed. I also discussed with them safety upgrades to the A52 at Bottesford (watch this space), traffic diversions in Greetham and Caldecott as well as my long-term goal to change the models by which Highways England decides which junctions to prioritise for safety upgrades."
