Today Alicia Kearns MP wrote to the Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, to ask him to consider calling in the planning application for the Grange Top Quarry.
The Secretary of State can refer local planning decisions to the national planning inspectorate, where they face greater scrutiny and a more in-depth application process. Given the complexity and potential risks associated with this proposal Alicia believes this would be the right course of action.
Despite the General Election being called on 22nd May, the decision whether or not to call in the applications remains with the Secretary of State until 30th May, when Parliament is dissolved.
