The Government has announced grants to high streets totalling £56m across the country to boost tourism, improve green spaces and provide more outdoor seating areas, markets and food stalls as they recover from COVID-19.
This will be worth £35,628 to high streets across Rutland and £45,239 for Melton’s high street.
Alicia Kearns, MP for Rutland and Melton said:
“Our high streets have had a tough year – the toughest any have faced. As we look to the future, we can be confident that the Conservative Government has not forgotten our high streets.
This important fund will give business owners the funds they need to return to the heart of our communities.
“Rutland and Melton are known throughout the country as having particularly beautiful and important market towns, and this fund can only serve to make them even better for locals and tourists alike.”
