Alicia Kearns MP is looking to hire someone who cares deeply about helping people and communities. Caseworkers are the most important role in an MP’s office, supporting the MP to ensure that issues constituents face are heard and actioned.
The job is taking the concerns of residents to Ministers or Government bodies and ensuring that residents secure the support and outcomes they need and deserve. Enjoying working with others and supporting individuals and groups is vital.
The role will also support Alicia to run surgeries with local residents and exciting events across the constituency of Rutland & Melton.
Requirements:
– A highly motivated staff member to learn the role of caseworker
– Excellent verbal and written communication skills and confidence interacting with, and advocating on behalf of, people at all levels.
– Experience working for the Citizens’ Advice Bureau or similar, is very welcome.
Able to:
– Prioritise a demanding workload to meet deadlines and with an eye for detail
– Deal with issues in a confidential manner
– Good with people and a team player
– Competent use of IT

Salary: Within IPSA pay-scales £21,960 – £32,548
Job Details
Alicia Kearns MP is looking to recruit a Communications Officer who will primarily be focused on campaigns and communications activity. The successful applicant will need to be able to undertake media and press activities, design and create content for social media, as well as assist with wider communications activities such as newsletter creation, community engagement and website management.
The applicant should be highly organised, a strong communicator and someone who is able to work accurately to deadlines and thrives in a fast-paced Parliamentary office. They will be able to exercise good political judgement and be able to use their own initiative to start new, and add to, existing projects. They should have experience in social media, media, communications, graphic production, photography and video editing.
The applicant should be passionate about the difference MPs can make to the lives of their constituents, be creative, have strong initiative, proactive and keen to make their mark and make the role their own.
The role is based in Westminster with some travel to Rutland and Melton (initially working from home until staff can return to Parliament). Candidates should have exceptional written skills and the ability to work independently.
Duties will include, but not be limited to:
- Produce press releases, articles and liaise with the media, meetings required deadlines
- Produce online graphics and video content across all the MP’s campaigns
- Monitor media coverage and social media channels
- Manage social media channels
- Keep the MP’s website updated
- Community engagement including Parliamentary Visits Scheme
- The post holder will need to work parliamentary hours which may require work outside normal working hours
