MELTON VACCINE CENTRE: I’m aware that Latham House has announced it will not provide vaccinations any further after they complete vaccinations for everyone in cohorts 1-9.
This is a decision that I know worries many residents.
Firstly, please be assured Latham House will deliver first and second doses to all those in cohorts 1-9.
I have been absolutely clear with our local NHS that we must retain a vaccination service here in Melton. I have been reassured that significant work is underway to ensure this is the case. I’ve also raised it with the Vaccines Minister.
This week I have been pressing the local NHS to provide me with full details of:
- Who will provide the vaccination service,
- How do we ensure no delay for those aged 40 and above who are eligible but not in cohorts 1-9,
- How patient data will be shared to enable invitations to take place, and
- If this decision has caused any delays already.
I have urged the NHS to communicate with residents as soon as possible and I will share information as I receive it and continue to push for it.
Whilst I am disappointed by their decision, Latham House made this decision as they want to focus on the primary care needs of their patients.
This once again confirms the need for a second GP Practice for Melton. I continue to work hard to deliver this election commitment and I can share that good progress is being made.
The good news is a quarter of the adult population of Rutland and Melton is now fully vaccinated and three quarters have had at least a first vaccine.
