Locally we continue to benefit from vaccination centres in Oakham, Melton, and Market Harborough. This week a new vaccination centre was stood up in Billesdon surgery which will provide vaccinations to residents in the Harborough Villages and beyond.
With the University of Oxford and AstraZeneca vaccine now approved for use by the MHRA our vaccination programme continues apace. The new vaccine should begin to be administered from 4th January. The Government has purchased 100 million doses of just this vaccine, on top of the 40 million doses of the Pfizer vaccine we’re already rolling out.
Enormous credit to the fantastic scientists who developed this vaccine and to all those working so hard to help defeat this virus.
These vaccines give us a plan and a way out, but we are not there yet.
I encourage everyone to please get tested if they need to, we need to know where the virus is to stop it spreading.
