Glenfield Hospital is set to receive £24 million in Government funding for two new modular wards this Winter, adding 56 new beds.
Glenfield Hospital is 1 of 30 hospitals receiving Government funding for urgent and emergency care upgrades, and is the largest single recipient of funding from today’s announcement.
This is part of a wider £250 million pound investment that will deliver 900 new hospital beds across England to help treat patients this Winter.

“This funding is a wonderful boost for our local healthcare services, helping patients to move out of A&E more quickly, improve treatment, and free up our hospital capacity.
“NHS workers have provided exceptional service during immensely challenging circumstances over the last two years, and this funding will help to relieve pressures on our local health services, while delivering on the Government’s promise to cut NHS waiting times.”
