Following Alicia Kearns' campaign for the closure of illegal Chinese Police Stations operating in the UK, it has been announced today that all stations have now been closed due to pressure from Parliament and the Police.
The Security Minister's statement made it clear that these stations will not re-open and have no right to operate in this country.
Alicia Kearns, Member of Parliament for Rutland and Melton and Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee said:
“I have long-campaigned for the closure of these illegal stations, so I am very pleased that these stations are now unable to operate as a result of pressure from Parliament and the Police.
“I welcome the Security Minister’s update, which makes it very clear that the stations must not re-open.
“When we are vulnerable at home to Chinese transnational repression, we are weaker on the world stage. This an important step showing that authoritarianism has no place on UK soil.”
