Leicestershire County Council (LCC) have now confirmed that their review into 26 Leicestershire bus services has been paused. This follows the £1.78 million in funding awarded to LCC as part of the Government's Bus Improvement Plan which Alicia Kearns MP and colleagues have been asking for.
As part of Rutland and Melton's Successful Levelling Up Funding project, an additional £6.5 million will go towards investing in an on-demand rural bus network linking Rutland and Melton's towns with villages, delivering a more reliable bus service for our passengers and improving access to the market towns.
Alicia Kearns, Member of Parliament for Rutland and Melton said:
"One of the most common issues raised with me is the need for more bus routes across our rural communities, so I am very pleased to see the continuation of these vulnerable bus routes thanks to the Government's funding."
