Sheffield Hallam University recently published a new report into Uyghur forced labour in solar supply chains, dedicating five pages to Canadian Solar, the primary developer behind Mallard Pass Solar Plant.

Following this report, Alicia Kearns MP wrote to the Energy Minister, Grant Shapps MP, and FCDO Minister, Anne-Marie Trevelyan MP, to highlight the evidence of Uyghur forced labour in Canadian Solar's supply chains.

Alicia has consistently called on the Government to sanction Canadian Solar and create stricter regulations against solar companies engaged in or benefitting from forced labour.

On the upcoming Energy Bill, Alicia has tabled two clauses to address forced labour in solar supply chains and the worrying loss of high-quality agricultural land to mass solar development.
