Over £3 million in Government funding will go towards new electric vehicle (EV) charging points in Leicestershire.
Working with other councils and Midlands Connect, Leicestershire County Council's bid was successful in securing funding through the Government's Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Scheme (LEVI).
This follows the news that earlier this year Harborough District Council was awarded £1,141,073 in funding to deliver more EV charging points.
Alicia Kearns, Member of Parliament for Rutland and Melton, said:
"Many of you have written to ask for more EV charging points in our communities, and I am delighted that LCC will receive over £3m in funding.
"This significant funding boost is expected to create up to 2,500 public electric vehicle charging points in Leicestershire by the end of 2030, which is fantastic news for our rural communities."
