Alicia Kearns MP is looking for a Parliamentary Researcher who is passionate about the difference MPs can make to the lives of their constituents, with strong initiative and keen to make their mark, make the role their own, and be part of a busy team working on pressing national and local issues. A positive attitude and willingness to roll up your sleeves and learn is much more valuable than directly relevant experience.
This is a role for someone who enjoys lots of independence and freedom with buckets of ideas and the drive, determination and attention to detail to lead them forward.
This role would suit a highly organised individual with the ability to work independently, show initiative and work well as part of a wider team. Good organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks is key. We particularly welcome applicants who are looking for practical professional experience with career ambitions within public service and will offer support with their career development.
You will have opportunities beyond that typical to this role, from engaging with foreign leaders, to leading national and international campaigns, working in a fast moving and demanding environment and potentially travel abroad.
Interest in Rutland and Melton, foreign affairs and national security very welcome.
The role will include:
- Researching national and local policy issues,
- Leading on parliamentary activities including questions, reports and more
- Leading on daily issues and urgent briefings, especially on foreign affairs
- Leading on All Party Parliamentary Group activity on a range of subjects
- Responding to policy needs of constituents
- Diary management (attention to detail key)
- Assisting with special projects
- There will be a requirement to work outside of normal working hours and travel to the constituency.

You must have lived in the UK for a minimum of 3 years out of the last 5 years, and able to supply proof of your right to work in the UK.
