Rutland and Melton MP Alicia Kearns has announced this week’s Unsung Heroes; Rutland’s Tom Johnson and Melton’s Sarah Hall.
Every week, Alicia celebrates at least one winner of the ‘Unsung Hero’ award, raising awareness of people doing extraordinary things locally, and bolstering community spirit amidst the pandemic. All those recognised will receive a certificate of recognition, a badge and be invited to an event once the pandemic is over as a small way to say thank you.
Tom Johnson is the Chairman of Rutland Musical Theatre and has been working hard throughout the lockdown to keep Rutland’s thespian community connected despite the unfortunate postponement of the Fiddler on the Roof production.
Melton’s Sarah Hall has been running free online Zumba classes for zero to four-year olds throughout the lockdown which have been incredibly well-received by parents! She has also been running free online classes for elderly community members to help them keep fit and healthy.
Rutland and Melton MP, Alicia Kearns, said:
“I am most grateful to both Tom and Sarah for their altruism in uniting and supporting our communities throughout the lockdown. At such a difficult time, it is truly heartening to see such unique, but powerful, contributions to help our communities get through the lockdown.”
Alicia Kearns MP is encouraging residents who know a person or organisation that deserve recognition for their outstanding response to the pandemic to nominate them on her website at aliciakearns.com/heroes.
