Rutland and Melton MP Alicia Kearns has welcomed news that 13.56 hectares of trees will be planted across 11 discrete sites around the River Eye.
This is possible thanks to £124,500 awarded to the Trent Rivers Trust by the Government’s Green Recovery Challenge Fund which supports nature-based projects to restore nature, tackle climate change and connect people with the natural environment.
Rutland and Melton MP, Alicia Kearns, said;
“I welcome this significant boost to local ecology which will also support green jobs in our area. I’m grateful to the Trent Rivers Trust for working to transform our landscape and improve local air quality.”
The River Eye is one of 68 projects that will see over 800,000 trees planted and help restore damaged habitats such as moorlands, wetlands and forests.
Alicia Kearns MP continues to work with local stakeholders to identify opportunities to strengthen Rutland and Melton’s environment.
