The A606 / Six Hills Lane is receiving a cluster site analysis following Alicia Kearns MP’s intervention after a fatal collision earlier this year, and numerous complaints from residents. Since the beginning of 2021, there have been four incidents at the junction.
Leicestershire County Council has undertaken an initial inspection and review of safety at the junction. Following this review, the lining of the Six Hills Lane approach has been renewed. The signing has also been renewed – with large yellow backed give way signs and advanced give way signs.
The severity of the collisions have also led to the junction being included in a 2022/23 more detailed analysis. These could include signalisation, provision of a roundabout and other measures to reduce speeds and increase awareness on the approaches to the junction.
Alicia Kearns, MP for Rutland and Melton, said:
“It’s vital that our roads are safe – and that means responding to accident hotspots, like the Six Hills Lane junction with the A606.
“I'm relieved that the Council has acted and implemented initial safety measures – and I’m hopeful that these measures will go some way to making the junction safer.
“LCC has also committed to a cluster site analysis study of the junction – and will be considering all the points that I raised following the accident in November.
“I’m confident that the measures will result in a safer road for everyone you use it.”
