Alicia Kearns, Member of Parliament for Rutland and Stamford, said:
"Labour has voted to cut the Winter Fuel Payments for 10 million pensioners, and an expected 20,800 pensioners in Rutland, Stamford, and the Harborough and South Kesteven Villages.
"Today Labour broke our social contract that if you work hard and pay your taxes, government will support you at your most vulnerable, in your retirement and time of need.
"I will be doing all I can working with my Conservative local Councillors to see what support might be provided locally instead for those in need, and I will also be running a pension credit campaign later this month to ensure all those who are eligible are signed up."
