Nearly 1,000 collisions were recorded on the A1 between Peterborough and Blythe between 2015 to 2022. This cannot continue.
I was relieved to secure five safety upgrades between the Tinwell Junction and the Colsterworth Interchange in 2023, but I have more I want to do.
After a recent meeting with National Highways, they confirmed they are reviewing the A1’s central reservation crossings - a priority request of mine. I will wait to see what the review recommends, but in the meantime I have secured an Adjournment Debate to raise our community’s concerns in Parliament, a further meeting with National Highways and I have written to the Transport Secretary.
Please do sign my petition below to help make the A1 safer. The petition will run until the most appropriate moment to present it to National Highways and the Government. Your data will be retained until the issue is no longer live.
Petitions will be posted to people to sign at the appropriate moment.
I will also be holding a public meeting on Friday 15th November from 18.00 - 19.30 at the South Witham Village Hall to hear from residents what priorities they have for improvements to the A1. The meeting is open to anyone who lives along or drives the A1 regularly and lives in the constituency of Rutland and Stamford.
To attend the meeting, please RSVP here.
